Description
Based on the well proven NIX technology from their Road & Track product line, Öhlins developed the FKA cartridge kits for Adventure Bikes improving these in terms of comfort and overall performance.
Thanks to the FKA cartridge kits from Öhlins the bike now has a fully adjustable front end. Rebound damping is on one leg and compression in the other leg, with adjustable spring preload in both legs. Different springs are available for riders individual demands as well as an effective hydraulic stop inside the kit to prevent bottoming.
The package includes 2 sets of front fork springs with different spring rates. Spring rate recommendations can be found in the mounting instruction. Front fork oil needs to be ordered separately.
The Öhlins cartridge system fits into the original front fork. Please follow their recommendations regarding spring rates and oil in relation to rider's weight and preference listed in the specific cartridge kit's mounting instruction.
Spring Recommendation
- Rider weight below 75kg: 68042-35 left & right leg
- Rider weight below 80kg: 68042-35 left leg, 68042-45 right leg
- Rider weight above 85kg: 68042-45 left & right leg
Installation Tools
For a correct installation of the cartridge kit into the standard front fork the following tools are required. These tools are not included and need to be purchased in addition.
- Motorcycle Tool, pull up top-out spring M12, part no. 01765-03
- Tool, cylindertube cap, part no. 01797-07
- Ohlins Soft Jaws kit 10/12/35, part no. 00727-02
- Ohlins Soft Jaws kit 30/34/55, part no. 00727-06
Additional Consumables
Various operating materials may be required for the professional installation of the cartridge kit. These are not included in the scope of delivery and can also be ordered via the Öhlins online shop. Please refer to the installation instructions for the respective product.
- Red grease, 100 g, part no. 00146-01
Note: It is strongly recommended to have the cartridge kit installed by a professional motorcycle or suspension workshop.
