Installation note

• For installation of the ULTIMATE engine protection plate, the mounting bracket for ULTIMATE engine protection plate R12 G/S (#26822-012) is required. Please order separately. Alternatively, the identical bracket of the original engine protection plate can be used together with the corresponding engine-side mounting bolt.

Compatibility note

• The engine protection can be combined with the DAKAR exhaust header guard (#26901-000)

Rough’n’tough – the functional integral design of the Wunderlich ULTIMATE engine protection

This ULTIMATE engine protection also features the authentic Tool Design. The functional design and structural integration protect the engine housing, oil sump and exhaust headers including the interference pipe. The three-part construction fits extremely close to the engine, optimising not only the frontal impact area but also maintaining virtually unchanged ground clearance and lean angle freedom. The shape of the protection reduces the risk of unpleasant levering or snagging off-road, whether caused by branches, gravel or rocks. Openings ensure that water absorbed during river crossings can drain freely.

The angled deflector plates redirect stones or foreign objects thrown up by the front wheel in such a way that the risk of damage to the exhaust headers and engine is significantly reduced. Another advantage of this engine protection is that it deflects splash water thrown up in surges downwards, significantly reducing thermal stress on the engine housing, exhaust headers and seals, especially when the engine is hot.

The complex component shape and geometry are the result of optimising material thickness and weight while simultaneously achieving high structural rigidity and mechanical stability. The result is a durable, weight- and form-optimised engine protection that fits so closely and organically around the engine that the design principle of “form follows function” becomes clearly apparent. Where necessary, the fasteners are countersunk, offering no exposed surfaces and perfectly enhancing the adventure look.

The high-quality engine protection is securely bolted at four existing mounting points on the motorcycle. External forces and moments are distributed across the mounts to reduce load and torque peaks. Vibrations are effectively absorbed. Typical of Wunderlich, unrestricted accessibility for maintenance work has been ensured: for example, a dedicated opening has been provided to allow unhindered engine oil drainage.
